Facebook Not Cross-Posting to Instagram - How to Fix

Posted Yesterday

My Facebook posts are not cross-posting to Instagram anymore!

It sounds like your Facebook and Instagram accounts may not be properly linked, which is causing the issue with your posts not syncing between the platforms.

Here are the steps to ensure your accounts are properly connected:

Link Your Facebook and Instagram Accounts

  1. Log in to Facebook Business Manager:
  2. Add Your Instagram Account:
    • In the Business Manager, go to the Business Settings.
    • Under Accounts, click on Instagram Accounts.
    • Click on the Add button.
    • Enter your Instagram login details to link the account.
  3. Check Page Roles and Permissions:
    • Ensure that you have the correct permissions for both the Facebook page and the Instagram account.
    • In Business Settings, go to Pages and check if you have the appropriate role (Admin or Editor).
    • For Instagram, go to Instagram Accounts and make sure your account is listed.

Enable Cross-Posting

  1. From Facebook to Instagram:
    • Go to your Facebook page.
    • Click on Settings.
    • Select Instagram.
    • Make sure the Instagram account is connected.
    • Enable the option to post to Instagram.
  2. From Instagram to Facebook:
    • Open the Instagram app.
    • Go to your profile.
    • Tap on the three lines in the top-right corner to open the menu.
    • Select Settings > Account > Linked Accounts.
    • Tap on Facebook and ensure it is connected.

Troubleshoot Syncing Issues

  1. Reauthorize the Connection:
    • Sometimes, reauthorising the connection can resolve syncing issues.
    • Disconnect and then reconnect your Instagram account from the Facebook page settings.
  2. Update Apps:
    • Ensure both the Facebook and Instagram apps are up-to-date.
  3. Clear Cache:
    • Clear the cache of both apps to remove any temporary data that might be causing the issue.
  4. Check Facebook Business Manager Settings:
    • Ensure there are no restrictions or settings in the Business Manager that might be affecting the sync.

Verify Post Settings

  1. When Creating a Post on Facebook:
    • Make sure you select the option to also post to Instagram before publishing.
  2. Check Post Formats:
    • Ensure the content you are posting is compatible with both platforms (e.g., image dimensions, video length).

If you follow these steps and still experience issues, it may be worth reaching out to Facebook Support for further assistance.
